Peinirlakia, the Mediterranean
Breakfast just got some Mediterranean spirit.
At the production areas of Lemonis bakery company we constantly try out new things. We experiment with new ingredients, new recipes, new combinations. We continuously strive to create delicious and nutritious products from natural ingredients using as inspiration the Greek and the Mediterranean cuisine.
The latter additions to our vast range of products are two new, awe inspiring peinirlakia. The fluffy dough, which we daily make with fresh butter and olive oil, met with the flavors and the aromas of the Mediterranean.
We filled peinirlakia with some creamy hummus, a salad made of chickpeas, tahini, olive oil and lemon juice. On top of that we add a few strips of red pepper, slices of zucchini, a bit of olive oil and sprinkled with sweet-smelling oregano.
A velvety fava, a purée made of yellow split peas, found shelter inside the peinirlaki’s dough. The gentle, delicate flavor of fava was elevated with slices of black olive and some capers. At the end, we sprinkled them with a few drops of olive oil, sweet paprika and oregano.
Legumes are a key component of the Mediterranean diet due to their undeniable nutritional value. Legumes have quite a remarkable nutrition profile as they are considered to be a rich source of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fibers.
